New Church Calling

Where to begin. . .(this has been sitting in my drafts section for two weeks now, but it's finally official.)
I found out last sunday that the Primary Presidency in our ward is being released. I am currently the secretary in the Parrish Heights Ward. I was just put in back in January and I'm finally feeling up to the many tasks a secretary faces. (I had no idea all that they handle) The current presidency has been in for over three years and with one of the counselors moving, the bishopric thought it would be a good idea to reorganize. Since Sunday I have been thinking who will be in the next presidency. I was hoping I would get to just stay as the secretary since I was fairly new to the job.

Then a couple days later I started having new feelings. Not that I was to be the secretary, but that I actually would become the president. I started to pick counselors, woman who I thought would fit the best with me and who would be good at teaching. Then what do you know, on Thursday I get a call asking if I could meet with the Bishop, and to bring my husband along. The promptings began to really become strong and I was almost certain that I was going to be called as the next president. Even my mother-in-law had the same feelings.

I have met with Bishop Leonard and he has extended the call to me. So yes, I was called to serve as the president and I'm just amazed that the spirit could tell me so days before it actually happened. That I could be preparing and pondering on the woman who will serve with me. I have been involved with the primary for 9 1/2 years now. Since I turned 18 and was married to Stephen. I started out as the CTR 8 teacher, then CTR5, Valiant 11 Girls, Valiant 10, 2nd counselor in two presidencies and then a valiant 11 girls teacher, then Secretary and now President. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.

I'm most excited to teach the children. I love to do Sharing Times and try to think of new ways to make them exciting. I guess this stems from me wanting to be a teacher when I was little. It's like I have my own 60 person class full of eager students. Wish me luck!
