Safety Week

Safety week at the elementary is now behind me. I don't think I'll agree to anymore week long events, but it went well. We had a fun week making posters (that were destroyed 1 hour later in the downpour.) putting green ribbons on the fence and trees, handing out fingerprint kits, walk to school day and a bike rodeo with the police department. The best day though was when we had my step dad Brian come to the school and clock the speeding cars. There were quite a lot actually. One was even going 45 in a 25! (it was my brother Chase giving the kids a show!) ***Thanks to my Mother-in-law for helping me get all of the posters and handouts ready. You really saved my day!

It turned out to be the event that entertained the kids the most. It was great for Aiden also. Being at school all week gave me a glimpse into his little first grade life. I was actually feeling sad for him. He was a loner at recess. Not really doing much of anything or playing with anyone. When I asked him why, he didn't seemed bothered by it. He seemed to think he couldn't play with his old friends because they weren't in his class anymore. Then he told me how they like to play four square and he didn't know how. BREAK MY HEART! That night I told Stephen about it and he took Aiden right out front and taught him four square. You should have heard how happy he was to tell me the next day how he played at recess and it was fun.

That's always been a fear of mine. What could be more upsetting than knowing you have this great kid and kids are mean to him. Luckily it was only a couple lonely days of recess and things are going much better.

Thanks for your comment on my blot Anisha! What a great story about your son, way to be a proactive mom!

I noticed Natalie emailed you about her card class...maybe I'll see you there too.
