10 Years later.....

We had our first date the end of January, engaged by end of March and Married on July 1st. (we had to wait until I graduated from high school) Oh my! That is so young now that I look back. Why in the world did my mother let me date a college graduate when I was a senior in high school?

All I can say is, that when you know, you know.

We had a wonderful dinner at Flemmings and then we didn't know what else to do. We are not used to being on our own without kids. There weren't any movies we wanted to see and that's about all there really is to do at Gateway. We ended up shopping for the kids and then heading home by nine. It just goes to show what old folks we are now. We curled up on the couch, watched a foreign movie and stayed up way too late.

Stephen was laughing at dinner about what a difference ten years can make. He was amazed at the foods I was eating that I would have NEVER tried ten years ago. I still don't know what attracted a gourmet food eater to the pickiest girl on the planet, but I'm glad he stuck it out with me. It is a good thing that he was running late on our first date and we had to stop for fast food instead of the planned Chinese restaurant. He would have brought me home right then. I really was the worst eater and would have sat there and watched him eat his whole meal.

He also joked that I'm no longer a little girl, but a full fledged woman. Yes I am! That cute young figure I used to have is long gone. I always joke with my kids that they did this to me, but it was well worth it. About a month ago we were at the elementary school field day. I was running races with Aiden and Asher and having a great time. Then we tried the potato sack race. Oh my, I really felt my age! Some little girl came up to me and had to tell me that she could have done that race faster than I did. I just laughed and said, "just wait until you've had three kids!"

I love my kids, my husband, my life, and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for ten wonderful years!

Can't believe it's been 10 years! I remember thinking how way back then that you two were perfect for each other. I'm so glad that I got to be involved in all of it. We should really get together and go to lunch or something. You really do make a great couple! (And you have made some darling kids too!)
