On Thursday night we attended the annual Night with the Stars at the La Caille Restaurant. It is a benefit dinner and auction for the American Lung Association.
Don't think for a minute we could actually afford to go to a thing like this. Actually my husband has been volunteering there for the past 8 years. He and his friend Jake provide and set up a sound system and microphones for the auction. But as a perk, he gets to bring me and we get to eat the fancy dinner and get all dressed up. It is really a fun night.
The whole idea behind night with the stars, is that the local celebrities from Utah are there and one of them sits at each table. Our Celebrity was former Miss Utah, Jill Stevens. (The one that was in the army) She was very cute and fun to talk to. Our friend Jake and his wife along with one other couple sat at our table, and luckily everyone had things in common.
This year was a little different than those of the past. Usually, because we're just the "help" we haven't had to have a Star at our table. We sit with the man and his wife who print the invitations for the party, and the 2 mailman brothers who deliver the invitations (who are always flirting with the big breasted waitress) and our friends, Jake and Sherri.
It was fun to go out with my husband and feel glamorous, and wear my little black dress, and sip lemonade from a wine glass, and be in the beautiful atmosphere. La Caille feels like another country. They have so much property that they really have created a new world. There are grape vineyards, ponds, colorful flowers, huge buildings, peacocks roaming free, valet Parker's and waitress all dress in costume.
My once a year glimpse into how the other side lives.

FUN! How many times have you gone?
Wow, a night out like that would be wonderful. I think it's kind of weird that they sit you with all the other volunteers. Hmmm.. I'm glad you had fun though. Isn't that place near the house you just moved from. It look familiar.
Yeah it's up close to our old house. I've been going for 5 of the 8 years Stephen's been working it. I guess they didn't realize they could bring their wives for a while:) I'm glad they finally figured it out!
