Tonight I experienced a first. My first time EVER being pulled over by a cop. Yes, I was speeding and yes I got caught. He was sitting there in the dark by the freeway on-ramp, just waiting for some unsuspecting person. I'll admit, I was nervous. The butterfly were flying. Luckily my brother Chase and his wife Megan were with me to keep me calm. I'm sure I could have started to cry, but I held it together for embarrassment sake.
The cop asked for my license and then went back to his car, where another officer decided to pull up behind him. OH, great, now I look like the bad guy! I was telling Chase and Megan how I have never been pulled over before while we waited for him to come back. When he came back he was holding his clipboard (a bad sign) He wrote me a ticket for 5 over and was really nice about it. I mentioned that this was my first time ever being pulled over and did he notice that when he ran my license? He said yes, he saw that I had a clean driving record, but the city doesn't like to see warnings. It is his job to write the ticket. I said I understood that the city needed their money and he nodded. So I signed my name to the ticket and he started handing it to me through the window. All of the sudden Megan speaks up and says, "We understand, our dad's a cop." "He is?" asks the officer. "Yeah, he works for Davis County Sheriff," I add. "How long has he been there?" he asks. "about 9 years,"says Megan.
Then what does he do? He takes the ticket back, writes VOID over it in big letters and says, "this is for your dad."
I was amazed. I thanked him and Megan joked that I needed my picture taken with him since it was my first time, and he lets us go.
So for my first experience being pulled over ended on a positive note. I'm happy that the officer was a nice guy and I'm happy that Megan was there to speak up. Chase is in the backseat saying he has never seen a cop do that before and that throwing Brian's name around hardly ever works for him. Megan says this is a first time for her too, she's never gotten away without a ticket after being pulled over.
Thanks to the nice officer for not ruining my fun night. We had just left the gateway from our 3 couple date night to see New Moon. It was a great movie, much better than the first and I was happy to spend the evening with my hubby and family.

Lucky duck! I don't think that is standard procedure.
Lol! We seem to have the luck of getting out of tickets sis. You should ask Brian for one of those Davis County stickers, It works miracles.
