Best Ever Play Dough Recipe

I have been making this play dough for a few years now. I got the recipe out of the Utah Mama's Handbook (a great book my friend Rachel wrote) It has been used so much that it is now loose from the book and floating around. I just came upon it yesterday and decided it would be the perfect afternoon activity for the kids.

It's already given me and hour of free time, and they are still going strong.

1 Cup all purpose flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 tsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
food coloring

Mix the all the ingredients except the food coloring in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until it holds together (keep mixing or it will stick to the bottom of the pan) When the dough is cool enough to touch, knead it on a floured surface, divide it into smaller balls and add a different shade of food coloring to each ball. Store in airtight container for a couple of weeks.

What will you do with your free time?

Thanks so much for sharing the recipe- it's way too expensive to buy it!

This is my favorite recipe also. I made a batch for my Primary class, kept it in the refrigerator, used it Sunday after Sunday, and it kept beautifully for the entire year!
